City of Scrap Demo V0.2 Released
Hello Everyone!
It's been quite a bit since our last update. We've got some news to discuss along with this update.
This project was started for our college capstone project. The submission version for the end of that class was V0.1. Today, we're putting out V0.2. All of the items included in here are improvements to make the game how we wanted the V0.1 to be at the end of our class along with the bug fixes to things found by you guys.
From here on out, we've had internal discussions on where we want and wanted to go with things. To summarize it, we're halting major development. We're at the point where we really only want to proceed with a publisher or major investments, and we don't think we're going to get that. We may still make some minor updates to bugs and things, but the majority of the project will probably stop here.

Changes
- Controllers should now be supported and dialog should change based on which input usage is currently active
- Different resolutions should now be supported. 16:9 resolutions are recommended.
- Added a missing jump text that shows when you don’t have the jump module yet and try to jump
- Added some interactive signs that should help players during the start of the game
- Added new VFX for enemy deaths
- Grapple Claw now closes around the object you are grappling towards
- Update to Scrap’s hanging sprite
- Updated a lot of the text to a raster-based version of the old font
- Doors now close after some time if you don’t get near them
- Added audio effects to the UI buttons

- Adjusted Springheel’s arena so you can’t leave and get him stuck against the wall
- Moved the entrance to the cave near the start so it’s more visible for people to see when they begin the game
- Shredders are now a little quieter
- Added bottomless pit indicators

- Updated Scrapion’s sprites
- Some minor room updates
- Minor adjustments to background bits
Balance Changes
- PLAYER (Overall Middling Nerf)
- Slightly increased shot cooldown for steam pellet (0.15 -> 0.16)
- Increased shot cooldown for scrap cannon (0.15 -> 0.25)
- Increased steam pellet speed (14 -> 16)
- Increased scrap cannon projectile speed (13 -> 14)
- Decreased grapple pull speed (25 -> 15)
- Increased grapple satisfaction distance (0.5 -> 1.5)
- ZOMBIE SCRAP (Overall Large Buff)
- Decreased inaccuracy (+15deg to -10deg -> +14 deg to -8deg)
- Increased health (6->8), takes 4 hits to kill now.
- Significantly decreased shot cooldown (1s-3s -> 0.5s-1.25s)
- Increased range of vision (5units -> 5.5units)
- Added a chance to drop more scrap on death (DROPS: 4@100%, 2@50%, 1HP@25%)
- SCRAPION (Overall Mild Buff)
- Scrap Cannon Shot Scale x1.5
- Scrap Cannon Shot collider radius relatively decreased (0.35 ->0.25). Net result is a slight increase in actual size
Bug Fixes
- Fixed projectiles disappearing during pauses
- Mouse should reappear in the main menu after the credits are done
- Fixed Scrapion’s inner head being able to be hurt before the outer armor is destroyed
- Credits Scroll reworked to consistently work across all resolutions
- Grappling should now have the end point of the grapple claw be centered on the grapple point and there should be no weird shifting of sprites during retraction
- Fixed issues with slimes falling on things other than the ground
- Adjusted the height of the player exit point when going upwards through vertical doors so the player doesn’t stay inside the door’s collider sometimes
- Fixed horizontal crushers
- Fixed scrap doors from opening with interactions without taking a scrap
- Player grounding only happens when the player’s vertical velocity is near zero.
- Shrunk sludge hitbox in the sewer a bit so you can’t fall through the pipe and hit the sludge at the same time
- Fixes for some slime walking oddities
